By the age of nineBintang was able to depict objects fluently. In 2014, he filled a single,100-page notebook with various drawings or designs of robots. The robots that he drew in this book were the product of his daily observation of household objects, human body parts (like tongues and eyelashes), political party logos (this year corresponded with a presidential campaign, and suggestions from others that did not always derive from objects. Throughout 2014, he painted numerous events such as the world cup, televised ceremonies involving the army, and current trends related to children’s toys, particularly robots. He also created works from recycled leather, glass, miniature toy cars, and batik. And of greatest significance, in 2014, Bintangcelebrated his first solo exhibition at Sidoarum Art House in Yogyakarta, opened by the well-known Indonesian director, GarinNugroho.
